Course Overview

This course is intended for staff to build a strong foundation in Cantonese pronunciation and articulation. They will build up their competency in speaking and listening; basic conversational skills, grammar and sentence structure for daily use with residents/patients. At the end of the course, participants will be able to converse in simple Cantonese with residents/patients and their relatives, understand residents’/patients’ concern and answer enquiries.

Total: 10 lessons (3-hourly per session)

Run 6: 23 Sept 2020 – 25 Nov 2020 (Every Wed)

Run 7: 30 Nov 2020 – 1 Feb 2021 (Every Mon)

* Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2014)
* Chinese language teacher with the inlingua School of Languages since 2013
* Teacher and Administrative Executive with the YMCA Education Centre, Singapore (Feb 2014 to Nov 2015)
* Teaching Assistant with the Zhuhai No.8 Middle School, China (Oct 2011 – Jan 2012)
* Co-Developer for Chinese materials, Cantonese healthcare materials
* More than 4 years of full-time teaching experience in group and individual settings

Course Fees: $501.46 (inclusive of 7% GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in
eligible community care organisations.
