Course Overview

This programme aims to equip participants with the clinical knowledge and skills essential for maximizing mobility in older adults within the nursing home. This set of skills enables participants to provide safe and competent care when utilizing common equipment used for mobility and rehabilitation.
Course Outline:
1. Explain the basic principles of rehabilitation in a nursing home setting
2. Recognize the International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health (ICF) model
3. Identify strategies to maximize opportunities for mobility in the nursing home
4. Identify equipment that support mobility
5. Identify exercises that facilitate mobility

Course Trainers

This course is delivered by trainers from Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital.

Ms Juliana Wang

Ms Juliana Wang is a physiotherapist with over 10 years of experience. She is currently working as a Senior Physiotherapist at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). Prior to joining the community care sector, Ms Wang has worked at two major tertiary hospitals in Singapore. She holds several qualifications: Master of Science in Neurological Physiotherapy (Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong / 2013), Bachelor of Physiotherapy (University of South Australia / Australia / 2007), and Diploma in Physiotherapy (Nanyang Polytechnic / Singapore / 2005). Her area of specialization includes neuro-rehabilitation and geriatric rehabilitation.

Ms Yap Roh Ling

Ms Yap is a physiotherapist with 4 years of experience. She is currently work-ing as a Physiotherapist at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). Ms Yap has worked in the community care sector in Singapore since 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physiotherapy from INTI International Univer-sity, Malaysia (2014). Her area of specialization includes neuro-rehabilitation and geriatric rehabilitation. She is also a trainer for the “Rehabilitation Essen-tial Training Series” for Kwong Wai Shiu Transitional Care Ward, an in-house training programme for nursing staffs.

Course Fees: $501.48 (inclusive 7% GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
