The Global Lifelong Learning Summit 2024

Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) is revolutionizing elderly care training through an innovative partnership with Nudgyt Pte. Ltd., a leader in AI and behavioral science.

In response to the growing demands of Singapore’s aging population—where over 25% of citizens will be 65 or older by 2030—KWSH has implemented a groundbreaking solution to enhance the skills and knowledge of its healthcare and community care staff. This initiative equips them to better assess the well-being of seniors and recommend necessary interventions.

Through the InnovPlus Challenge, KWSH and Nudgyt developed a scalable prototype that integrates Generative AI and behavioral science into Continuing Education and Training (CET) programs. The browser-based AI simulates various senior profiles in real-life scenarios, capable of understanding natural language and engaging in meaningful, multilingual conversations with learners. The AI evaluates learners’ interview and assessment skills, providing personalized feedback—a process traditionally handled through physical role-play sessions.

This solution offers healthcare professionals an asynchronous, effective learning experience, enabling them to refine complex geriatric assessment skills and build confidence. The AI-driven, immersive role-playing simulations allow staff to practice intricate care scenarios in a controlled, low-pressure environment, significantly reducing anxiety and improving real-world performance.

The success of this digital innovation has led to measurable improvements in care standards and staff preparedness, positioning KWSH as a leader in healthcare training innovation. This transformation not only elevates the readiness of KWSH’s workforce but also sets a new benchmark for the future of elderly care training, ensuring Singapore’s aging population continues to receive the highest standard of care.
