Course Overview

The objective of this course is to introduce the participants to the potential of wearable technology as the consumerism of such technology reached critical mass, with apps being readily available to take advantage of the pervasiveness and convenience made available by such devices. This course is recommended for all health care professionals who need to learn how wearable technology can help to deliver better, more targeted and more holistic care plans for their patients, especially for chronic disease management.

Target Participants

  1. Healthcare administrator, managers, administrators and care providers who need to work on healthcare information system implementation, operations, chronic disease management programs and/or tele-health
  2. IT professionals in healthcare who will work in areas such as tele-health/ tele-medicine, and integrating new, consumer technologies with internal enterprise systems
  3. Individuals who need to understand the importance of wireless, wearable technologies and how such devices can deliver a holistic wellness & healthcare experience

Dr Atreyi Kankanhalli

Dr. Atreyi Kankanhalli is a faculty member in the Department of Information Systems at the National University of Singapore (NUS). She obtained her B. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, her M.S. from RPI, New York, and her Ph.D. from NUS. She has held visiting positions at the Haas Business School, University of California Berkeley and the London School of Economics. Prior to joining NUS, she has considerable experience in industrial R & D. She has consulted for several organizations including World Bank and Bosch SEA.

Dr. Kankanhalli conducts research projects in the areas of knowledge management, online communities, and IT innovation (particularly in public and healthcare sectors) with local and global organizations. Her work has appeared in premium information systems journals such as the MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Decision Support Systems, and Communications of the ACM among others. She serves on a number of conference committees and the editorial boards of prestigious journals. She has been invited to serve on the ICKM and SSME Councils.

Dr. Kankanhalli has taught courses on healthcare informatics, electronic government, and service systems and related topics. She has been invited to speak at local and international forums.

Course Fees:$716.37 (inclusive of 7% GST)


Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
