Course Overview

Course Objectives

Rhythm Wellness is an expressive, stimulating drumming activity for Community Care clients to enhance their focus, coordination, communication, and teamwork through drumming-based activities.

This workshop aims to train Community Care staff using the “Train-the-trainer” approach to focus on the shared values of participating, creating, sharing, and inspiring one another as a group, rather than on performance skills.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

  1. Group Play and Experiential Learning
  1. Interactive Lecture (Handbook, slides, flipchart)
  1. Skills practice (Basic Facilitation Skills)

ASSESSMENT

1. Summative and Formative assessment (Worksheet and Practical)

Target Participants

Nurses, Allied Health Professional, Corporate Services Staff, Programme co-ordinator, Programme executive. Staff attending this course should have some experience in facilitating activities with the elderly and be comfortable in conducting group activities.

Mr Syed Ibrahim B. Haja Mohideen

Community Arts Educator

As a Community Arts Educator, Mr Syed served as a REMO Artist Endorsee, USA, Endorsed Village Music Circle Facilitators (USA) and Enhance Artist Status from the National Arts Council, Singapore where he was given the support to promote music-making in Educational Institution and various Community Building initiatives in Singapore. And in recognition of his dedication to his craft, Mr Syed is a proud recipient of the Spirit of Enterprise (Singapore) Award as well as the Citation Of Excellence in recognition of outstanding contribution to Percussion Education by the Percussive Arts Society (USA) at the recent National Percussion Band Festival at Indianapolis, the United States of America.

Mr Syed holds a Master of Arts in Pedagogy and Practice from the Goldsmiths’ College University of London, UK.

Course Fees: $845.00 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organizations.
