Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar

Intan is currently Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Community Leadership and Social Innovation Centre (CLASIC), in the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). In SIT, Intan also chairs the CLASIC executive committee, and coordinates and teaches the Change Management module in the Accountancy, Engineering, DCIM, and ICT degree programmes. Her research interests are in the areas of social contexts and change, social innovation and service learning, change management and leadership, information and media literacy, and public policies related to education, training, and social services.
Before joining SIT in July 2017, Intan was an Assistant Professor in Policy and Leadership Studies in the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, where she taught both pre-service and in-service courses at NIE. During her five years in NIE, Intan taught newly appointed Key Personnel and Heads of Department in Schools, in the Management and Leadership in Schools (MLS) Programme. She also taught in the Leaders in Education Programme (LEP), where the participants were School Vice-Principals from both Singapore and Brunei. Intan also taught courses to the Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) trainers and supervised NIE trainee teachers for their teaching practicum in primary schools across Singapore.
Prior to that, Intan was an Assistant Professor in Educational Technology in Abu Dhabi University (ADU), United Arab Emirates (UAE), where she also supervised trainee teachers across different primary schools in Abu Dhabi. Before embarking on the one-year stint in the UAE, she taught in a polytechnic and a secondary school in Singapore.
Intan has extensive experience in both the public and private education sectors, having taught and worked in this industry for more than 20 years. Intan has conducted executive education programs for government officials from Vietnam, Macau, and the UAE.
From May 2011 to June 2020, Intan served as an elected Member of Parliament in the 12th and 13thParliament of Singapore, in Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC). From 2015 to 2020, Intan was the Deputy Chairperson for the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education and was a Member of the Government Parliamentary Committees for Manpower and for Transport.
Intan has served as a member of the Academic Board of a local private tertiary education institute, and served on the boards of several public education institutions and public service organisations, such as the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), the Digital Readiness Council under the Ministry of Communication and Information, and the Health Promotion Board under the Ministry of Health.
Nicholas Teo Boon How

Nicholas is a design anthropologist who teaches design methodologies at Singapore Institute of Technology. His experience in applying design to different schools ranges from business to healthcare. His research interests include experience design, spatial design, service design, ethnographic methodologies, and popular culture. Having graduated from the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne and having work experience in both Australia and Europe, Nicholas has been exposed to the values and nuances of designing and understanding of different cultures and communities. Through the awarding of various grants locally, Nicholas has been able to work closely with various companies to build better design driven solutions. He has presented his work and research on design and education around the world and is now trying to build a stronger design community in Singapore.
