Course Overview

COURSE DESCRIPTION / AIMS

The Root Cause Analysis (RCA) course aims to provide an understanding of the root cause analysis concepts and practices in healthcare. It consists of an insight into the steps involved in conducting a RCA and the problem solving tools that are used to help nail down the root causes of adverse events or close calls in healthcare. This course also aims to provide a good foundation on Quality Improvement (QI) Tools, by providing the knowledge, skills and tools to support its implementation in any healthcare environment and setting. This course will cover the application of principles and practice of different QI Tools, combined with group activities, hands on practice, as well as their appropriate usage.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Root Cause Analysis is designed for beginners to form a basic understanding of the determinants of behaviour leading to problems and safety issues. The course is also designed for beginners to form a basic understanding of tools typically used in Quality Improvement (QI) projects. This interactive full-day course will introduce the fundamentals of patient-centred Quality Improvement (QI) in community care. The objectives are as follow:

A minimum of 75% attendance will be required for you to complete the programme and receive your certificate.

Mr Lee Chong Ming

Associate Lecturer of Parkway College

Mr Lee Chong Ming is an associate lecturer in Parkway College with 38 years of experience. He holds a Masters of Science (Chemistry) from the University of Birmingham (1978). Prior to joining Parkway College, he has worked as a regulatory consultant in the Health Sciences Authority, is an ACTA certified trainer and consultant in Capella Counselling, a Factory Manager in Baxter Healthcare (China), as a senior lecturer in Ngee Ann Polytechnic and a quality director in GSK Singapore. His area of specialization includes quality & regulatory affairs, ISO9000 and ISO 140001 certification, operational excellence , leadership training, performance appeal, coaching and team building.

Course Fees: $625.04 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
