Course Overview

Cognitive rehabilitation is an important aspect of the overall management for patients with mild to moderate dementia, e.g. early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Incorporating music therapy and cognitive stimulation, these strategies have been shown to be effective in addressing dementia and geriatric cognitive disorders. This programme is designed to provide participants an opportunity to adopt an evidence-based approach to managing older patients with cognitive disorders.

Dr Tan Gim Hoon Davynn

Dr. Davynn Tan is currently an assistant professor with the Singapore Institute of Technology in the Health and Social Sciences cluster. Prior to that, she was a Clinical Associate with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, after obtaining her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences with a concentration in applied cognitive neuroscience from the same department in 2017.

Davynn’s clinical experience as an occupational therapist in elder care, particularly dementia, alongside with stroke rehabilitation, prompted her research interest in the translation of scientific evidence into cognitive interventions for healthy older adults and those with mild cognitive impairment and dementia, as well as the study of the neural mechanism and modulation of ageing cognition using investigative techniques such as electroencephalogram (EEG), event-related potential (ERP) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)

Course Fees:$4123.83 (inclusive of 7% GST)

 

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
