COURSE DESCRIPTION / AIMS

This programme aims to provide participants with the awareness, knowledge and skills essential for understanding the importance of resident safety in the intermediate and long-term care sector and improving the quality and safety of resident care.

Dr Sam Goh

Senior Nurse Clinician, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Dr Sam Goh is a registered nurse with more than 14 years of experience. He is currently working as a Senior Nurse Clinician at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) and also serves as an adjunct faculty with the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies at National University of Singapore. He has extensive experiences in the field of critical care, nursing management and education, having worked in several tertiary hospitals in Singapore. Prior to joining the community care sector, Dr Goh was extensively involved in many training and development programs for healthcare professionals in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Australia.

Dr Tang Mun Leong

Assistant Director, Nursing, St Andrew’s Community Hospital

Dr Tang Mun Leong is an external trainer with more than 20 years of experience. He is currently working as the assistant director of nursing at St Andrew’s Community Hospital. Prior to joining the community care sector, he has worked as a staff nurse in tan tock seng hospital, and as educators in Nanyang polytechnic, Parkway college and Juronghealth in Singapore. He holds several qualifications, as a Doctor of Education in the National Institute of Education Singapore / Institute of Education, London (2014), bachelor of nursing in Sydney University, Australia (2005) and an advanced diploma in Nursing (neuroscience) from Nanyang polytechnic, Singapore (2003). His area of specialization includes nursing skills, nursing education, neuroscience, curriculum and teaching and healthcare administration. He is also extensively involved as an auditor in the Singapore Nursing Board and is a committee member of the Singapore Nurses Association.

Ms Serene Tan

Nurse Clinician, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Ms Serene Tan Shi Ling is a registered nurse with over 10 years of clinical experience. She is currently working as a Nurse Clinician at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). She holds several qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing (La Trobe University, Australia / 2010), Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Critical Care) (Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore / 2008), WSQ Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (IAL, Singapore / 2015), WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ITE, Singapore / 2010), Diploma in Nursing (Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore / 2006), and ITE Certificate in Nursing (Institute of Technical Education, Singapore / 2003).

Course Fees: $320.00 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
