Course Overview

The course is designed for beginners to form a basic understanding of tools typically used in Quality Improvement (QI) projects. This interactive full-day course will introduce the fundamentals of patient-centred Quality Improvement (QI) in centre-based facilities. Topics include methods of improvement, features of effective teams, use of right data for measurement and diagnostic tools to target the right interventions which cover the following areas:

1. Introduction to quality improvement and patient safety

2. Science of improvement

3. Identifying opportunities for improvement

4. Assembling an improvement team

5. Quality planning tools

6. Measurement and run charts

7. Solutioning

8. Testing changes


Contextualization is situated within the group exercises. Application of QI techniques will be conducted to examples from centre-based participants. The trainer will coach the participants on how to apply the QI techniques in their centre-based settings.

  4. ACTA certified Trainer and Consultant (Capella Consulting 2005 to 2009)
  5. Regulatory Consultant (Health Science Authority HAS, 2009- 2019)
  6. Experience in QCC/WIT using quality improvement tools (PDSA and Pareto Analysis); brainstorming and 5 Whys for problem solving and quality improvement; and continuous quality management using statistic quality control charts
  7. Achieved Baxter Global Quality Award based on US Malcom Baldridge National Award


Course Fees: $286.55 (inclusive of 7% GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
