Course Overview

Mental wellness is essential for our overall well-being. It allows us to cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to our communities. However, many people struggle with mental health challenges at some point in their lives.

This workshop will explore the mind-body connection and how occupational therapy and physiotherapy can be used to promote mental wellness.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To educate participants on:

  • Mental wellness and practical tips on achieving it.
  • Occupational therapy perspective on mental wellness.
  • Holistic approach for mental wellbeing.
  • Physiotherapy perspective on mental wellness.

  1. Definition of mental wellness
  2. Components of mental wellness
  3. How Occupational Therapy contributes towards mental wellness
  4. Suggestions for holistic approach towards mental wellness
  5. Success stories
  6. Practical tips
  7. Exercises for mental wellness (demonstration)

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be able to state what is meant by mental wellness and state approaches to support mental wellness.

Ms Adeline Lee

Senior Occupational Therapist, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Ms Adeline Lee is a Senior OT educator in KWSH with over 25 years of experience with specialisation areas that includes community geriatrics. She earned a Masters in Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Occupational Therapy. Ms Adeline has worked in acute and community settings. Mr Audi Fehdurani is a Senior Physiotherapy Educator with Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital and has 14 years of experience as a physiotherapist with specialisation in Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine. He has worked in acute and chronic settings. He holds a MSc in Rehabilitation (Neurological) and Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance.

Ms Lee Yee Wenn

Senior Physiotherapy Educator, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Ms Lee Yee Wenn is a Senior Physiotherapy Educator with 20 years of working experiences in acute and community settings. She holds a Pedagogical Certificate in Technical Education, Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education as well as a Masters of Art in Professional Education (Training & Development).

Course Fees: $65.00 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 80% for Singapore Citizens / Permanent Residents aged 50 years old and above.
