Course Overview

At the end of this course*, participants will acquire the foun-dational knowledge and skills to:
1. Maintain and care for equipment.
2. Prepare to lift and transfer client.
3. Lift and transfer of client between two places.
4. Position and turn client.
*Note: This course is an introductory session for participants and is not intended to certify the participants as competent in the use of the devices. During this course, participants will be introduced to the transfer devices through the ward observations or skills practice.

Please Note:

A minimum of 75% attendance will be required for you to complete the programme and receive your certificate.

Ms Margaret Goh

Head of department/Principal Physiotherapist, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Ms Margaret Goh is a physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience. She is currently working as the Head, Rehabilitation at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). Prior to joining the community care sector, Ms Goh has worked in several public and private healthcare organizations. She holds several qualifications: Bachelor of Health Sciences, Physiotherapy (SIM, Singapore, 2005) and Diploma in Physiotherapy (Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore, 2002). Her area of specialization includes elderly care, neuro-geriatrics and physiotherapy clinical skills. She is extensively involved in in-house training courses for thera-pists, therapy aides and care staff at KWSH.

Trivedi Neha Umang

Senior Physiotherapist, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Ms Trivedi Neha Umang is a senior Physiotherapist with over a year of physiotherapist experience and is currently working at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital. She holds a Master of health sciences (management) and a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the Maharaja Sagajirao University of Baroda, India (1995). Her area of specialization includes Physiotherapy clinical skills, elderly care, neuro-geriatrics care, training, and development.

Sim Puay Cheng

Senior Nurse Educator, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Ms Sim Puay Cheng is a highly-experienced nurse leader with over 30 years of clinical experience and is currently working as a Senior Nurse Educator at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). She holds several qualifications: Master of Arts (Human Resource Development) (SIM-George Washington University, USA / 1999), Bachelor of Nursing (La Trobe University, Australia / 1993), Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (National Institute of Education / Singapore / 2013), and WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (CBLD, Singapore / 2010). Her area of specialization includes critical care, gerontology, infection control and nursing education.

Ms Serene Tan Shi Ling

Nurse Clinician, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

Ms Serene Tan Shi Ling is a registered nurse with over 10 years of clinical experience. She is currently working as a Nurse Clinician at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). She holds several qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing (La Trobe University, Australia / 2010), Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Critical Care) (Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore / 2008), WSQ Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (IAL, Singapore / 2015), WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ITE, Singapore / 2010), Diploma in Nursing (Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore / 2006), and ITE Certificate in Nursing (Institute of Technical Education, Singapore / 2003).

Course Fees: $80.00 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
