Introduction to Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Implementation in your Organisation

KWSH-G&OE-B-176

Course Overview

The community care sector is mostly made up of charities and good governance is an important criterion for the public and charity stakeholders to decide whether to donate or volunteer their services to a charity. The Charity Council developed the Code of Governance to set out relevant principles and best practices in key areas of governance and management which charities are encouraged to adopt.

As of 2021, the Charity Council has included ESG considerations as one of the checklist items in its Code of Governance.

The processes in organizing a community care organisation’s activities include managing direction and effectiveness, supervision as well as accountability. In aligning itself to the ESG agenda, adoption of best practices in governance contributes to minimising impact on the environment and building a fairer working environment without compromising administrative processes and sacrificing resources. The measurement and reporting of the performance of ESG factors in these activities will be an important criterion for its stakeholders (government agencies, businesses and philanthropy investors).

“Accounting for Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Factors: Community Care Activities” is a 1-day program about the principles behind ESG, how the ESG considerations can be purposefully integrated into community care activities and how the performance of these ESG initiatives can be measured, its documentation and reporting. This course is suitable for programme, management, procurement, operational and communication staff. Participants will be exposed to some best practices and case studies to further enhance their understanding about implementing and reporting ESG initiatives in their workplace.

At the end of this course, participants will be able:
