Course Overview

Incontinence is a symptom of underlying problems with which simple assessment and investigation, can be identified and treated. Even when a cure is not achievable, optimum methods of incontinence management can produce ‘social continence’, alleviate embarrassment, and preserve patient dignity.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The aim of this course is to provide education to clients with knowledge to assist them in planning and improving continence care for them.

COURSE OUTLINE

  1. Continence assessment
  2. Management and treatment for incontinence
  3. General tips for carers of people with incontinence
  4. Practical suggestions for incontinence issues
  5. Toileting suggestions for carers of people with incontinence
  6. Hygiene suggestions for carers of people with incontinence
  7. When to seek medical assistance for issues relating to incontinence
  8. Exercises for symptoms of incontinence (demonstration)

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of the the course, learners will be able to state the symptoms of incontinence and describe symptoms that warrant a visit to a medical professional.

Ms Lee Yee Wenn is a Senior Physiotherapy Educator with 20 years of working experiences in acute and community settings. She holds a Pedagogical Certificate in Technical Education, Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education as well as a Masters of Art in Professional Education (Training & Development).

Course Fees: $65.00 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 80% for Singapore Citizens / Permanent Residents aged 50 years old and above.
