Course Overview

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
 Describe the integumentary system.
 Describe the skin changes in the elderly.
 Identify the common skin conditions in the elderly (Xerosis, pruritis, dermatitis, skin tear)
 Discuss the management for xerosis, pruritis & dermati-tis
 Discuss the management for skin tear
 Outline nursing role in daily skin care

Course Trainers

This course is delivered by trainers from Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital.

Ms Rachel Wong

Ms Rachel Wong is a speech therapist with over 20 years of experience. She is currently working as a Senior Speech Therapist at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). Prior to her employment at KWSH, she has worked at both private and public hospitals in Singapore. Her area of specialization includes dyspha-gia management and acquired communication disorders. Ms Rachel holds the following qualifications: Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Patholo-gy) (University of Sydney, Australia) and Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) (Institute of Adult Learning, Singapore).

Ms Sim Puay Cheng

Ms Sim is a registered nurse with over 30 years of clinical experience. She is currently working as a Senior Nurse Educator at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). She holds several qualifications: Master of Arts (Human Resource Development) (SIM-George Washington University, USA / 1999), Bachelor of Nursing (La Trobe University, Australia / 1993), Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (National Institute of Education / Singapore / 2013), and WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (CBLD, Singapore / 2010). Her area of specialization includes critical care, gerontology, infection control and nursing education.

Course Fees: $95.25 (inclusive of 7% GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
