At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1) State the importance of environmental cleaning and disinfection

2) Assess infection control measures to guide the level of cleaning

3) Identify best cleaning practices for different types of care areas

4) Identify occupational health and safety issues related to environmental


 Course Outline

1) Guidelines for environmental cleaning and disinfection in healthcare      settings

2)   Infection control and the environment

3) Cleaning and disinfection best practices for patient care and food   preparation areas

4)   Assessment of cleanliness and quality control

5)   Management of cleaning supplies, cleaners’ rooms, laundry and bedding

6)   Occupational health and safety issues related to environmental services

Target Participants

Supervisors, housekeeping staff, care staff including therapy aides, nursing aides, patient care assistants, and healthcare assistants
