Course Overview

1. To gain skills and knowledge of the Malay language
2. To facilitate conversation in basic Malay language with patients through topics:

a) Enquiring Patient’s Personal Information
b) Family relationships
c) Describing numbers & Frequency
d) Examining Patients – Describing body & Anatomy
e) Describing Symptoms & Medical History
f) Giving Instructions & Consultations
g) Food & Nutrition
h) Mental Health
i) Discharging Patients
j) Revision & role-play

At the end of this course, participants will be able:
To converse in basic Malay language in the Community Care Sector

Please Note:

Participant(s) must have completed the Basic level of Conversational Malay prior to joining this level.

A minimum of 75% attendance will be required for you to complete the programme and receive your certificate.

All levels of community care staff/ Participants who have completed inlingua’s Basic Conversational Malay for Healthcare Staff

Nurul Aisyah binte Juferi

Malay Language teacher, inlingua school of languages

Ms Nurul Aisyah is a Malay language teacher with more than 4 years of teaching experience. and is currently working in the Inlingua school of languages. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore (2013). Prior to joining Inlingua, Ms Nurul has worked as a barista, an assistant teacher for Iman Kindergarten, a sales assistant for Harris Bookstore and an assistant manager in the National Arts Council. Her area of specialization includes teaching general Malay language courses on the school curriculum, transcription, and Malay literature.

Asiah Bte Harun

Malay Language teacher, inlingua school of languages

Ms Asiah Bte Harun is a Malay language teacher with more than 3 years of teaching experience and is currently working in the Inlingua school of languages. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Singapore (1978). Prior to joining Inlingua, Ms Asiah has worked in the Immigrations & Checkpoint Authority as a senior immigration officer. Her area of specialization includes teaching general Malay language courses on the school curriculum.

Mohamad Nizar bin Zainal

Malay Language teacher, inlingua school of languages

Mr Mohamad Nizar bin Zainal is a Malay language teacher with more than 6 years of teaching experience and is currently working in the Inlingua school of languages. He holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the La Trobe University, Australia (2010). Prior to joining Inlingua, Mr Nizar has worked as an occupational therapist in the handicaps welfare association, and as a lecturer in Nanyang Polytechnic. His area of specialization includes occupational therapy training and teaching general Malay language courses on the school curriculum.

Sharifah Narimah

Malay Language teacher, inlingua school of languages

Ms Sharifah Narimah is a Malay language teacher with more than 12 years of teaching experience and is currently working in the Inlingua school of languages. She holds a bachelor (Hons) of Engineering from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom (2007). Prior to joining Inlingua, Ms Sharifah has worked in SGS Testing & Control Services as a Calibration officer, Explomo Technical Services as a Co-Curriculum Programme Executive, Expenovate as a Freelance Trainer and Khaw & Sons Linguist Translation services as a Freelance translator. Her area of specialization include teaching general Malay language courses on the school curriculum, translation and creative writing and speech & drama training.

Hanifah Bte AK

Malay Language teacher, inlingua school of languages

MS Hanifah is a Malay language teacher with more than 26 years of teaching experience and is currently working in the Inlingua school of languages. She holds a bachelor of economics from the PETRA Christian University, Surabaya (1999). Prior to joining Inlingua, Ms Hanifah has worked as a freelance interpreter and private tutor. Her area of specialization include teaching general Malay language courses on the school curriculum and interpretation.

Course Fees: $517.40 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in
eligible community care organisations.
