Course Overview

Design thinking has been practiced for ages: monuments, bridges, automobiles, subway systems are all end-products of design processes. Throughout history, good design thinkers have applied a human-centric creative process to build meaningful and effective solutions. Design thinking has already taken hold in healthcare, leading to the development of new products and the improved design of spaces. In this 2-day workshop, you will be introduced to Design thinking and how it can be applied to healthcare innovation. In addition, you will learn about Service Design thinking which is now gaining popularity in various industries – public sector, and commercial alike.

Dr Agnes Xue

A Red-Dot award-winning designer and the first Industrial Designer in Singapore to be awarded the Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) qualification from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Assistant Professor (Dr) Agnes Xue’s research interest has always been exploring better designs for healthcare that will have user-centric impact in this digital age. She teaches healthcare innovation across design, engineering, nursing and occupational therapy programmes. Her professional and teaching experience include work at Siemens Medical Instruments, the Design Singapore Council and NUS, Singapore-Stanford Biodesign program A*STAR-EDB. In her personal capacity, she volunteers as the Honorary Treasurer of the Lupus Association Singapore.

Mr Mark Tan Kee Tchuan

Mark Tan is based in Singapore Institute of Technology, LTIC (Lean Transformation and Innovation Centre) as Assistant Director. He is in charge of lean training and project works with the industries, including SMEs. The Centre aims to promote and develop lean practices among local enterprises and drive adoption of lean thinking, culture and mindset.

Prior to joining LTIC, Mark was a Certified Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Black Belt (BB) practitioner mainly with the private sector (across both manufacturing and professional services) for more than 12 years, responsible for both local and regional process improvement initiatives.

Course Fees: $2547.83 (inclusive of 7% GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organisations.
