Tai Chi for Health Workshop (Basic)

Course Overview

This programme aims to enhance the skillset of Community Care providers through a “Train-the-Trainer” approach to learn the basics of Tai Chi so that participants are able to conduct this activity in their facilities to benefit clients in the following:

  • Improving fitness
  • Strengthening muscles and joints.
  • Improving range of motion and posture
  • Relieving pain
  • Promoting relaxation and concentration

COURSE OUTLINE

This workshop is a two and a half day (2.5 days) workshop that involves lectures, activities and discussions. This programme consists of the following:

  • Introduction of Tai Chi
  • How to apply Tai Chi for person with stroke
  • What are the Benefits of practicing Tai Chi.
  • Seated Tai Chi movements
  • How to teach “Tai Chi for Health” safely?
  • Standing Tai Chi movements
  • Basic Six Standing version
  • How to teach Tai Chi Effectively, using the Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method.
  • Coaching session to help participants improve on their teaching skills

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

  1. Group Discussion on Safety, Benefits of practicing Tai Chi.
  2. Using video to guide step by step learning
  3. Practicum – Training physically
  4. Teaching Effectively using the Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method.

This workshop is taught by Master Trainer Jennifer Chung from TaiChi SJY LLP.

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singapore Citizens / Permanent Residents and 45% for Work Pass Holders working in eligible community care organisations.

Master Trainer, TaiChi SJY LLP

Ms Jennifer Chung is a PA (People’s Association) Tai Chi trainer and Master Trainer selected by Dr. Paul Lam, a family physician in Sydney, Australia, who is a world leader in the field of Tai Chi for Health Improvement. She has been practising Tai Chi for over 30 years and was awarded 2 times PA Stars Trainer Award in January 2013 and November 2017.

She also contributes a good part of her time at organisations like Parkinson Society Singapore.

Course Fees: $510.00 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organizations.
