Course Overview

COURSE DESCRIPTION / AIMS

This course will provide participants with knowledge of proper interviewing techniques to obtain relevant patient history and correct techniques of patient assessment. Accurate patient assessment is essential to identify actual and potential nursing problems as well as planning and implementing appropriate nursing care.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES / OUTLINE

By the end of this course, the learners will be able to:

  1. understand the importance of patient assessment.
  2. discuss different aspects in patient assessment which include mental status, socio-economic status, nutritional status, and health status.
  3. plan individualised patient care based on patients’ needs
  4. plan patients’ discharge from institutional care to home care
  5. understand the community resources available to assist patients in the transition.

LingLing Wei

Clinical Educator, Masimo Asia Pacific

Ms LingLing Wei is a Clinical Educator in Masimo Asia Pacific with over 17 years of clinical experience. She holds a Master of Health Services Management (Griffith University, Singapore, 2019). Prior to joining Masimo Asia Pacific, she worked in Regain Biotech as a Regional Clinical Educator, and in Parkway College as a lecturer. Her area of specialization includes critical care nursing, nursing educator for register nurses enrolled nurses, allied health workers and nursing students, and nursing informatics: transformational care project lead. Her key skills include providing lecture and practical skill trainingfor advanced diploma and diploma students, conducting training for hospital staffs in various practical nursing skills, participating and presenting in seminars, symposia and trade shows, and providing in-services to nursing and medical professionals. She also uses her clinical expertise to identify training and in-service needs, provide hands-on training to Singapore and overseas hospital clinical teams, and develops and implements training programs for acute/community care and home care settings.

Course Fees: $284.11 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in
eligible community care organisations.
