Course Overview

COURSE DESCRIPTION / AIMS

At the end of this course, participants will be able:

  1. Understand sources of data generation in a typical healthcare institution
  2. Understand the importance of data to a healthcare institution for operations and planning, evaluation of performance goals, and improvement of service and patient care
  3. Learn the tools and techniques to clean, process, analyze and interpret various categories of healthcare analytics
  4. Generate statistical indicators for reports
  5. Identify data limitations and understand how to resolve them
  6. Acquire analytic skills using the data analytics software

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary skill sets in collecting, cleaning, processing, and analyzing data to generate results for use by its management, care providers, and various stakeholders. This is a hands-on course with practical exercises to perform analysis of healthcare data to draw insights into healthcare delivery outcomes.

A minimum of 75% attendance will be required for you to complete the programme and receive your certificate.

Danny Chiang Choon Poo

Associate Professor, NUS

Dr. Danny Chiang is an associate professor in NUS with over 36 years of experience. He has a doctorate in philosophy and a master of science in computing from the University of Manchester. His area of specialization includes health informatics and data analytics. His key skills include teaching and consulting on the application and deployment of health informatics, software engineering, and data analytics. He has been teaching, training, and consulting for healthcare professionals in the areas of health informatics, health informatics leadership, and healthcare analytics.

Lek Hsiang Hui

Lecturer, NUS

Mr Lek Hsiang Hui is a lecturer in NUS with over 14 years of experience, and has a PHD and a bachelor’s in computer engineering from NUS. His area of specialization includes natural language processing, analytics and software engineering. He has conducted various analytics courses to undergraduates and to professionals.

Course Fees: $3600.00 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible community care organizations.
