Course Overview

COURSE DESCRIPTION / AIMS

Parkway College offers a 12-hour ECG program for nurses and allied healthcare workers. This program equips the participants with knowledge in heart physiology, characteristics of a normal ECG tracing and skills in ECG machine operation. The program is a mixture of theory and skills practice with ECG machines and simulators.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, the learners must be able to:

  • describe the anatomy and physiology of the heart
  • describe the normal ECG tracing
  • perform basic ECG machine operation and lead corrections

  3. ECG machine operation

Course Trainers

Dr Richard Tan

Senior Lecturer, Parkway College of Nursing and Allied Health

Dr Richard Tan is a senior lecturer in Parkway College with over 20 years of experience and is currently working in Parkway College of Nursing and Allied Health. He holds a PhD in medicine from the Phillipines (1998). Prior to joining Parkway College, he has worked in a hospital and medical clinic in the Phillipines as a resident trainee and doctor, and in NUH department of medicine and emergency department as a medical officer. His area of specialization includes Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Pathophysiology and Collaborative Management, Pharmacology, Biological Sciences, training in healthcare and curriculum development.

Course Fees: $420.70 (excluding GST)

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/ PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in
eligible community care organisations.
